Today, Pragmora is launching Action 1
of its Peace for the Congo advocacy campaign.
This is the first step in creating a more comprehensive Peace Plan for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Action 1 urges governments to establish an international Election Watch 2011 for the
DR Congo to make sure the upcoming elections are free and fair.
The November 27, 2011 presidential elections will be followed by parliamentary and provincial elections. These elections must be internationally acclaimed as free
and fair or there is a very real risk that the current conflict will explode out of control.
An escalation of violence in the Congo would threaten the fragile peace in neighbouring Rwanda, Uganda and the new South Sudan. If the Congo explodes, the whole region explodes. TAKE ACTION NOW! |
